A mum claims her daughter was 'kicked off a bus' after being attacked by a group of girls. Emma alleges her 15-year-old child was targeted and beaten whilst travelling on a Stagecoach bus, reports Manchester Evening News.
The mother says her daughter, Freya, was travelling on the top deck of a bus in Greater Manchester last month when the incident occurred. She says the teen and her friend noticed a group of around nine girls at the back of the bus, who were allegedly inhaling nitrous oxide from balloons.
Freya alleges that one of the girls from the group came down to speak to her and asked her where her coat was from. The teen replied, but then another girl came over to them on December 27 2022.
Emma said: "Suddenly both of them just started hitting her. They then pushed her to the floor and stamped on her head.
"The driver heard the commotion and went to the top of the bus to stop what was going on. He asked Freya if she was okay but then kicked them all off the bus.
"The girls continued to go at her once he'd kicked them off. They spat in her face as she and her friend were pleading for them to stop."
Fortunately, Emma says her daughter and her friend were able to break free and ran off. The mother says the pair were noticed by a member of the public who called the police.
Emma said "The police officer told me it was very common for groups of teenagers to do balloons these days. She said the balloons give them a buzz and they have then gone for my daughter.
"She said it was likely they were already known to police and she said she was going to try and get the CCTV from the bus. I am angry and concerned that the bus driver has thrown my daughter off the bus with these vile girls knowing what had happened."
Emma said her daughter has been left incredibly shaken up by the alleged incident. Freya has a lump on her head and has lost some hair in the aftermath of the bus assault claims.
Emma said: "She has been extremely lucky as she had a £100 necklace on as well as her iPhone and a new coat on. They didn't steal anything, just gave her a good beating.
"It's awful and I know this kind of thing is going on a lot at the moment round here and it seems to be fuelled by drugs."
A spokesperson for Stagecoach Manchester: "We are very concerned to hear these allegations. We expect our employees to deliver a very high standard of customer service and as soon as we were made aware of these claims, we began an internal investigation to understand the full circumstances involved."
Manchester Evening News have approached Greater Manchester Police for comment over the alleged incident.
