Mum claims Christmas presents worth £100 stolen during shopping trip

A mum has claimed her Christmas presents worth £100 were stolen during a shopping trip. Nicolle Loughlin, 30, alleges that her handbag containing jewellery from Pandora was snatched inside a Marks & Spencer.

The 30-year-old says she was shopping near Manchester with her son and had visited Pandora to pick up some Christmas gifts. The mum selected two charms, worth £100, and left the establishment to continue her shopping.

She visited Marks & Spencer next and was pushing her child's pram with one hand and holding two carrier bags in the other. Nicolle then claims to have felt a 'tug' and her handbag move whilst inside the store, reports Manchester Evening News.

The mother says she then released her bag was missing and believes that it was snatched. Nicolle said: "I was in the store and had two bags on my arm.

"The smaller bag was at the front of my hand. I was distracted as I was shopping in the food hall, my son was tired and fed up and I was pushing him around. The next thing, I felt my bigger bag move and as I looked down I realised my bag was gone.

"The store was really crowded and busy because it was 5pm." Bosses have since reviewed CCTV footage of the alleged incident.

They said it was not possible to determine whether the bag went missing in store and have 'offered a gesture of goodwill', which Nicolle has accepted. A spokesperson for Marks and Spencer said: "We hold ourselves to the very highest standards of customer service, so we were sorry to hear that this customer was unhappy with her experience in store.

"Our customer service team have since spoken to the customer directly and whilst it was not possible to determine that the bag was lost in our store, we have offered a gesture of goodwill which the customer has accepted."

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the incident was reported to them at 6.30pm on November 26. They have made no arrests and are still waiting to conduct CCTV enquiries.
