Mum catches tradesperson inviting 'unknown' woman into home on security footage

A mum has asked for advice after catching a tradesperson inviting an "unknown" woman into her home on security footage.

The woman took to parenting forum Mumsnet to seek help, and asked whether she should "question" the worker about the incident. She revealed that he "still has four days left to finish the job".

The mum also stated that she did not "like the fact there's an unknown and uninvited person" in her home. She questioned whether she was paying him for work that was not being completed.

She wrote: "Currently got a tradesperson in to do a job. They quoted me a day rate of eight days work (which I think will take less time than that, but they're the expert...)

"I checked my security footage this week and noticed a woman popped round to my house when I was out and tradesperson was working alone in my house. I can only see her walk past my front door to the back garden gate, she knocks and then the feed ends.

"She's seen leaving four hours later. The next day, same thing, except three hours."

She continued: "At present the tradesperson gets here for about 8am and has already stopped working by 3pm. So that's seven hours of work, fair enough, but four (and three) of them an unknown woman here is (it's not his wife, I did a little social media digging and it's not her).

"Am I being unreasonable if I question him about it next week? He still has four days left to finish the job next week and I don't l like the fact there's an unknown and uninvited person in my house when I'm not there, plus, how much work can he really be doing if his "mate" is there for four hours."

Before long, the post had received dozens of replies from fellow Mumsnet users. There were a range of opinions on the matter, but the majority agreed the woman needed to get to the bottom of it.

One said: "You do know this is completely unprofessional and unacceptable, don’t you? I wouldn’t have him back in the house."

Many theorised that the man was using the mum's home to have relations with the "unknown" woman, with one commenting: "He's obviously seeing someone on the side and using your place to see her. I wouldn't want him back again on Tuesday but I've no idea what you can do if he's in the middle of a job, so to speak!"

A second agreed: "The obvious answer is often correct - they are k******g. I'd sack him, you've no option really. He won't kick up a fuss as won't want you to tell his wife."

A third suggested: "I'd have to pop home and catch them red handed. The look on their face would be priceless."

In response, the original poster shared: "The only thing I can think of is positioning the camera in my son's room to point out the window which faces the garden. I will be able to see if they go into an outbuilding but not much else and tbh I wouldn't want to film them having sex if that's what they're doing."

Meanwhile, another user commented: "Entertaining as this is, if you were a friend of mine I’d be asking if you were quite well. Investing in cameras and stalking the man seems an odd way to deal with this situation, I’d suggest you just tell him you don’t expect anyone else to be gaining access to your property without your permission and move on."
