Mum calls out 'cheeky' neighbour for sending son to her house for lift to school

The school run is a daily chore for most parents who usually take all steps to ensure their little ones get there safely.

Making sure everyone gets out the door fully prepared makes for a stressful morning and one woman's daily run has become much more stressful thanks to a neighbour she has never met. The frustrated mum took to the internet to seek advice, after the parents next door sent their child to her home for the daily lift - without asking.

Calling the fellow mother's action's "cheeky", she also expressed concern that "the parent isn't waiting for them to get home before leaving themselves". While the woman said she wouldn't usually mind, her daughter's ADHD makes for a "chaotic" start to the day and she doesn't have the classmate's parents contact information.

Even more bizarre is that neither parents have met, meaning her neighbour is sending their child to school with a stranger. After explaining the issue on Mumsnet, fellow parents rushed to her support, calling the neighbour's actions a "safeguarding" issue.

As reported by the Mirror, she wrote: "I have a neighbour whose child is in my daughter's class, every day this past week this child has shown up at my door unaccompanied to go to school with us. This would be fine but my child has ADHD and mornings are chaotic and difficult. I don't have this child's parents' phone numbers, and don't know exactly where they live!

"However I just saw the parent in their car driving away as I was trying to bundle all three children across the car park. This child is very young and so I don't feel comfortable sending them home alone and clearly the parent isn't waiting for them to get home before leaving themselves!

"I don't have any contact with these parents so if something were to happen I wouldn't be able to let them know, we are also going away soon and won't be able to take him to school! Am I being unreasonable to think this is really cheeky of the parents and that you shouldn't just assume another parent will take yours to school with no prior conversation at all!"

People in the comments were shocked at how calm the woman's post had been, with one stating that they were surprised she'd just called it "cheeky", rather than something harsher.

One parent wrote: "I'd ask the child to show you where they live and then I’d tell the parent exactly what I think. If that didn't work I'd inform school and social services that this young child is on the street unattended. This is not your responsibility."

Another fumed: "I'd be telling school. This is a safeguarding concern", and another agreed: "Contact the school, this is a massive safeguarding issue."

Someone raged: "Omg some people are on another planet!"

"People never cease to amaze me!", a baffled mum commented. "Bl**dy hell! I think you should tell the school what's going on, they might have a form for this or they might be on their radar for another reason."
