A mum-of-one influencer has been tragically shot dead in her car by hitmen on a motorbike after she left the gym.
Narcisa Cardoso Giler, 29, posted a video on her Instagram stories, in what was her last ever post to her 66,000 followers. just minutes before the fatal attack in Ecuador.
The 29-year-old Instagram model was travelling with a friend María Fernanda Vargas when armed men on a motorbike sidled up to the victim’s car and fired multiple shots at her.
Ms Giler was behind the wheel of the white car and lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the central reservation.
The attack took place in the area of Urdesa, Guayaquil, Ecuador, at around 9am on Monday.
After the influencer was fatally shot, the gunmen fled the scene on the motorbike and the victim’s shocked friend called the emergency services and informed Dulce’s family.
Ms Vargas later wrote on social media: “Today I lived it. Leaving the gym, they murdered my friend, almost my sister, in her vehicle.”
The police arrived on the scene to gather evidence and remove the influencer’s dead body for an autopsy.
National Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Christian Meléndez said the model was struck by “three or four” shots.
Ms Giler tragically leaves behind her 11-year-old son.
Three days before her death, she posted a photo of her with her son alongside the message: “Happy 11th birthday, love of my life. God guide and bless you always. I love you.”
Ms Giler had a criminal record along with five other people, who were charged on December 22, 2020, in relation to a robbery at a home in the Simón Bolívar canton.
She was ordered precautionary measures prohibiting her from leaving the country and in April 2021, she was dismissed from the judicial process.
Lieutenant Colonel Christian Meléndez, chief of the Ceibos district, commented that they still did not have a possible hypothesis as to why the woman was murdered.
Her death was one of 17 fatal shootings in the region in recent days.
