Mum blasted for banning daughter from sleeping in same room as wife during family visit

A mother has been blasted for not allowing her daughter to sleep in the same room as her wife when visiting the family home. The mum, who does enforce the same rule when her son and his wife come to visit, saw no issue with the demand.

Yet she faced backlash for her stance after taking to popular forum site Reddit when her strict guidelines led to a tense standoffreports the Mirror. The daughter, 31, and her wife, 33, arranged a trip to the home of her parents with their five-year-old son but were not best pleased with the sleeping arrangements laid out.

And when the frustrated couple refused to stay with the mum during their visit, she headed online to plead her case - but was met with fierce criticism.

The mother explained to Reddit: "I mentioned I had prepared each of them a different room. One for my daughter, one for daughter-in-law and one for my grandson. My daughter said I was being unreasonable and that she wanted to sleep in the same room as her wife. I said I made her brother and his wife do the same thing when they visited and they never complained.

"My daughter told my daughter-in-law to arrange for a hotel. I was really hurt by her decision and said I hoped she'd just stay and it was a few days. She said she hadn't slept apart from her wife for the past nine years and wasn't going to start doing that now. They left and stayed at the hotel."

The relationship between the two has reportedly soured somewhat, with the grandmother, 60, heavily criticised in response to her post for her decision, with some claiming they would have taken the same measures as her daughter did.

One user wrote: "They are a married couple. Why are you trying to dictate whether or not they sleep next to each other?" questioned one responder. "I would've got a hotel if I was them too!"

A second added: "Just because your son let you walk all over him and his relationship doesn't mean she has to allow you to do the same."

Meanwhile, another said: "You didn't even give them a valid reason for the decision. Why do you feel the need to control your adult, married children?? Props to your daughter for not giving in to your stupid rules."
