A mum was confused when she returned home and found scaffolding around her property, which was meant for another house nearby.
Sarah Johnson was out when workmen arrived at her home in Walnut Drive in Plympton, Plymouth, in Devon, last month.
When she noticed the scaffolding, the woman's neighbour, Courtney Chapman, called Sarah to ask her what work she was getting done at her house.
Sarah was initially confused when she received the message and after Courtney sent her a photo, she thought it was a joke or that she had applied a filter to it.
She told PlymouthLive : "On my way home my neighbour rang me to ask what's going on with your house and at first I thought she was winding me up.
"She sent me a photo and I still thought it was a joke, I even thought it was maybe a filter."
Sarah then asked her landlord if he had organised some repair work without telling her, but he said he "didn't have a clue" about what was happening.
When Sarah and her son got home and realised the workmen's bizarre mistake, they burst out laughing, she said.
Her neighbour said she questioned the workmen while they were putting up the scaffolding, but they insisted it was the right property.
They even said they had a picture proving the house was the correct one but refused to show her the photo when she asked them.
After doing some digging, Sarah found out the scaffolding was for new windows to be installed, but neither her or her landlord had placed any order.
Eventually, she found out the scaffolding was placed on the wrong street and it was meant for a property in nearby Walnut Gardens, not Walnut Drive.
The scaffolding stayed up at Sarah's home overnight and Plymouth-based company Scafftec Ltd then took it down the next morning.
Sarah said although the guys taking the scaffolding down didn't seem to be "very happy", the company's boss was "very apologetic".
