Mum and daughter get new surprise every time they look in their garden

A woman from the Wirral says she's 'continuously surprised' to find new anonymous donations to a small fairy garden she and her daughter began almost 2 years ago.

Carrie Dolan, a childminder based on Hall Drive, Greasby, had the idea to set up the little toy fairy garden in their front garden during the first lockdown to raise spirits during a difficult time. It started with only a few plastic figures but nearly two years later it has come to hold 'upwards of 30'.

She has no idea where the toys are coming from, but she says that new toys appear in the garden on a weekly basis, with a row of little toy trucks appearing this week. It not only lifted the spirits of the young children on their way to school, but that of the parents who also appreciate the efforts to make the school run that little bit more fun.

The mum of three told the ECHO: "All the children walking to school love it, and they all stop to have a play and quite often I'll leave the house and there will be a group of children at the edge of the garden playing with the toys.

"It was just me and my daughter originally and we just placed a couple of her little toys in the front garden, and noticed that there were children stopping and even kids who were having a strop on the way to school were stopping and being distracted by what was in the garden.

"I'd say that for about a year and a half now, other people have been donating toys into our little fairy garden but not telling us. So I'll be just going out there to have a look and all of a sudden new toys will have arrived, and they're always really well thought out and fit in with all the others there.

"I try to make sure that if they're getting a bit weathered or a bit worn that I'll take them out but I personally haven't added anything into it for about 6 months because other people are doing it for me.

"The fact that other people are joining in just makes it so much more lovely. I don't know who it is- I think it's more than one person but whoever it is is just filling loads of people with joy.

"It must be at nighttime that they come, but the thing is I'm at home most of the day and I've never seen anybody put anything in. I want whoever it is to know that I am grateful, really."
