A number of people have been rushed to hospital after a serious crash in Leeds.
Shortly after 8.30am this morning, a car left the A61 in Sheepscar Street North and crashed into the Vertu Jaguar car dealership in Scott Hall Road. West Yorkshire Police officers have cordoned off Scott Hall Road and are guarding the area while enquiries are ongoing.
Connecting Leeds Travel Info reported that at around 9.30am the A61 Sheepscar Street North in both directions was closed between the A58 Claypit Lane and Buslingthorpe Lane. Bad delays have been reported in the area and traffic is said to be grid lock. Traffic around the junctions connecting to Sheepscar Way and Sackville Street has been affected.

"It looks nasty," one individual said. "There are ambulances everywhere, I hope everyone is OK," they added. "A car smashed into the wall nastily," another added.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "A major Leeds city centre road has been closed following a serious injury collision. It was reported shortly after 8.30am this morning (Monday, 16 January) that a car had left the road and collided with the Vertu Jaguar Leeds car dealership on Scott Hall Road, Leeds.
"The road has been closed while emergency services deal with the incident. A number of people have been taken to hospital.
"Motorists are asked to seek alternative routes at this time. Further updates will be issued in due course."
