Multiple people injured as two buses crash head on in 'extremely busy' Canal Street

Multiple people were injured as two buses crashed head-on in an 'extremely busy' city street. Emergency services were called to a collision between two buses in Canal Street, Nottingham, at around 5pm on Thursday, December 8.

A number of people were treated for minor injuries at the scene and at the Queen’s Medical Centre. The road was reopened to traffic at around 8pm, after the damaged NCT and trentbarton buses were recovered.

Inspector Iain Blackstock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We know the incident impacted on traffic in an extremely busy location during rush-hour and would like to thank members of the public for their patience.

“A police investigation will now take place into what happened and this is at a very early stage.” Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 567 of December 8.

Canal Street was closed between Carrington Street and Greyfriar Gate junctions due to the crash. Local residents at the scene voiced their concern after seeing the dramatic scene of the crash.
