Plans for new house sharing facilities on a Newport street have drawn criticism due to the "over-concentration" of flat-shares in the area.
Proposals to turn a property at 11 Coverack Road, just off the busy Corporation Road, into a five-bed house of multiple occupation (HMO) were submitted to Newport City Council last week.
An application for a HMO at the same property was previously lodged in 2020 but was refused in November that year due to concerns over flooding and having ground floor bedrooms with no suitable first floor refuge.

And the new plans have drawn criticism from local councillor Farzina Hussain, who has written to the council to signal her objections to the proposal.
In a letter to planning officers, Ms Hussain said the application was "in an area of over concentration of houses in multiple occupation already".
"I would like to object to this planning application and would also like to request this application be considered at planning committee," she added.
The proposals are one of a number of plans for HMOs in Newport in recent months. Plans to convert the first floor of 149 Chepstow Road - currently used for financial services - into a four-bed HMO and 17 Caerau Road into a seven-bed HMO were submitted to the council in January.
Residents living in the Handpost area near Ombersley Road have also raised concerns over the amount of HMOs there in recent years, claiming it has exacerbated parking worries and anti-social behaviour issues. Read what they said here.
