Making fun of the silly things rich people buy is a well-loved American pastime -- one that former reality TV star and business mogul Bethenny Frankel has herself participated in. But today the proverbial shoe is on the other foot as the former "Real Housewives of New York" star receives blowback from her latest extravagant purchase.
"This is so special that I think it requires my first real unboxing," Frankel told her followers as she proudly displayed a Chanel bag in an Instagram reel. "I will tell you that it's very special. There are very few that were ever made[...] in the world and so I want to show you."

"It's got a pouch, so what's beautiful is that it does hold your cell phone," Frankel says while showing off the bag, which is shaped like a birdcage with a smaller pouch inside. "It's got[...] this velvet bottom and it's got feet[...] It's also a piece of art[,] you could leave this on a coffee table." Frankel also points out some of the bag's details, like "the baby birdies" and the "stones and crystals".
But for such a hefty price tag, Frankel's fans weren't all impressed.
“Ok, as much as I love Chanel, this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen," wrote one commenter about the bag. "Come on, now, even for Chanel, this is stupid.”
“I don’t care for it as a purse. It looks like something I could get from Hobby Lobby, and slap a strap on it," remarked another commenter. "It’s absurd as a purse [in my opinion], but I like it as a piece of art on the table[.]”
Still, Frankel did manage to show off one fashionable item that fans could get on board with. “I like the pajamas more than the purse," read one comment.
