Major tailbacks have been reported on the M74 following a rush-hour crash this morning.
Emergency services raced to junction 3A southbound, at Uddingston, after the alarm was raised at around 7.35am on Thursday. Officers were called to the report of a crash involving a number of vehicles.
The second lane southbound on the busy motorway was closed with traffic 'very heavy' on approach. The latest update from Transport Scotland warned of delays of up to 40 minutes.
Recovery of the vehicles is currently under-way. At this stage, there are not believed to be any serious injuries relating to the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said : "We received a report of a crash involving a number of vehicles on the M74 Junction 3a which happened around 7.35am on Thursday, January 12."
