Mules from Mountain Mule Packer Ranch are playing a crucial role in delivering supplies to residents in North Carolina who have been severely impacted by Hurricane Helene. The ranch has taken to Facebook to share their efforts in coordinating mule packs to transport essential items to areas affected by the storm.
Mike Toberer, the individual behind this initiative, has mobilized a team of twelve mules to distribute food, water, and diapers to remote mountainous regions that are challenging to access by conventional means. The mules, along with the ranchers, set out on Monday morning with a commitment to respond promptly to the needs of those affected. They are currently en route to Weaverville, NC, but are prepared to extend their assistance to other areas requiring aid.
To navigate through the rugged terrain, Toberer mentioned that they are equipped with chainsaws to clear paths for the mules. Each mule has the capacity to carry up to 200 pounds of supplies, ensuring a significant amount of aid can be transported efficiently.
Mountain Mule Packer Ranch, situated in Raeford, approximately 110 miles east of Charlotte and 245 miles from Weaverville, is actively engaged in relief efforts. The ranch has dispatched two fully loaded trucks and 20' stock trailers to western North Carolina to provide further assistance to the affected communities.
A post from the ranch expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and encouragement received for their unique approach of utilizing mule trains to deliver supplies to those impacted by Hurricane Helene. The dedication and resourcefulness displayed by Mountain Mule Packer Ranch serve as a beacon of hope during these challenging times.
