Much-loved Nottinghamshire theme park set to reopen

A much-loved family theme park in Nottinghamshire is set to reopen to the public for the first time this year.

Sundown Adventureland, in Retford, has been closed since Christmas Eve for its winter break as it carried out annual maintenance on some of its key rides and play areas.

The park will also welcome visitors to its new overnight accommodation, Wild Acre Village, when it opens its gates later this year.

The accommodation offers 66 self-contained lodges for guests.

To mark the new season, Sundown Adventureland will also be introducing a new discount for blue light card holders, available to those who work for the NHS, ambulance service, police, fire service and many other professions, which offers a reduced ticket price of £15, saving the card holder £5.50.

Following feedback from guests, the park has also created the Queue Assist Scheme for selected disabled guests and wheelchair users, which allows faster access to Sundown’s exciting range of rides.

Park manager, Debora Griffin, said: “Despite being closed to guests for the past month, it’s been a busy time for the team who’ve been hard at work preparing the rides, play areas and attractions for the return of loyal locals and new holidaymakers.

"We’ve also been working on our exciting new holiday village Wild Acre, which will open later this year and will offer 66 self-contained lodges for guests to stay in and enjoy everything we have to offer.”

The entire park will be open for families to enjoy, including all of Sundown’s favourites - Jolly Pirate Boat Ride, Crash Landings Indoor Play Area, Lollipoppet Castle, Okie Yolkie Ride, Monkey Mayhem Driving School and Market Square.
