A well loved eatery in the heart of Saughton Park in Edinburgh has shared the devastating news they will be forced to close.
The Garden Bistro has been a favourite for local residents and visitors to one of the capital’s busiest parks.
They served a variety of products from cooked meals to sweet treats and a mixture of beverages which included draught beer.

Operating for the past three years, The Garden Bistro was an escape for many during the pandemic, where customers were able to safely pick up coffees and meals when lockdown rules were beginning to be relaxed.
The business have cited a variety of factors in their decision to close which have included the cost of living crisis, the aftermath of the Covid pandemic and a large increase in the cost of sales.
They say that they have tried everything to keep the doors open but that this is not a practical option.
The Bistro thanked their staff and their customers for supporting the business and those behind the enterprise say that they hope that a new operator can be found as quickly as possible.
In a post shared on their Facebook, they said: “It is with great sadness that we have had to close The Garden Bistro .
“We tried everything we possibly could to keep the business trading and invested large sums of our own personal money where we could but a combination of factors including the cost of living crisis, the aftermath of the pandemic and the massive increase in cost of sales means we just cannot stretch any further.
“We have taken advice and explored as many options as we could but ultimately, we have no choice.
“We thank all of our hard working staff & loyal customers over the past three years & hope that Saughton park will find a suitable new operator as quickly as possible.
“Wishing you all the best for the future.”
Hundreds of customers reacted to the news on social media, with one sharing: “Really sad to hear this news. Great to meet people there or get a takeaway drink on a walk. You’ll be missed.”
Whilst another said: “Really sorry to hear this! I’ve loved coming to you for food and drinks both sit-in and take-away over the last couple of years. My dog has always been spoiled rotten. Wishing the owners and staff the best of luck.”
And another customer said: “So sorry to hear this. We’ve always enjoyed a walk to the Bistro and you all worked so hard during the pandemic. Wishing you and your staff all the best for the future.”
