Justin Bieber and Lil Nas X scooped the top prizes at this year's MTV Video Music Awards in Brooklyn.
The awards ceremony at the Barclays Centre was jam-packed with surprise appearances, live performances and, unlike last year, fans.
Justin, 27, made his VMA stage return for the first time in six years and was awarded the Moon Person statuettes for artist of the year and best pop song for his single Peaches.
During his acceptance speech, the star referred to the pandemic and said: "Music is such an amazing outlet to be able to reach people and to be able to bring us all together."
Lil Nas X, 22, had a breakout hit with Old Town Road two years ago and took home the award for video of the year for his gay rights anthem Montero (Call Me By Your Name).
Accepting the award, he said: "Let's go gay agenda!" The star has been frequently criticised for performances unashamedly celebrating his sexuality.
Elsewhere during the ceremony hosted by Doja Cat, there were wins for the likes of BTS, Olivia Rodriguez and Foo Fighters, while surprise appearances came from stars including Jennifer Lopez and Cyndi Lauper.
During their performance, Foo Fighters performed a medley of hits with "Charlie R.I.P" scrawled on their drum kit in tribute to the late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts.
A Moon Person was up for grabs for the winners at this year's awards and here is who bagged the coveted prizes in New York.
