MSU Football gets blown out by Indiana on Saturday

Michigan State’s fast start sizzled away in a blowout loss against Indiana on Saturday afternoon from Spartan Stadium.

Michigan State dominated the first quarter to build a double-digit lead, but Indiana took control from the second quarter on, scoring 47 consecutive points to earn the 47-10 win.

Even more concerning for the Spartans was starting quarterback Aidan Chiles leaving the game in the third quarter with an injury. He went straight to the locker room following the injury and eventually returned to the sideline, but never came back into the game. At the time of this post, the severity or nature of his injury is unclear.

Michigan State got off to a great start, jumping out to an early 10-0 lead after their first two drives. The Spartans’ touchdown came on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Aidan Chiles to Nick Marsh.

However, things went downhill from there with Indiana dominating the second quarter. The Hoosiers scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to carry a 21-10 lead into the break.

Indiana would pour it on in the second half, scoring another 26 points to run away with the game.

Michigan State never was able to get the ground game going, finishing the game with -24 rushing yards in the loss. Michigan State also had a pair of costly first-half turnovers that helped fuel the beginning of the huge Indiana run.

With the loss, Michigan State drops to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in Big Ten play. The Spartans have dropped two straight games, with Saturday’s loss against the Hoosiers being the worst of the year for Michigan State.

Michigan State football will be off next week on a bye and return to action in on November 16 at Illinois. The kickoff time for that game will be announced in the coming days.
