MSU football at Ohio State: Can Spartans pull off massive upset of Buckeyes?

Michigan State is looking to pull off a massive upset this week to keep their bowl eligibility dreams alive.

The Spartans head to Ohio State on Saturday night as a more than 30-point underdog. Michigan State, however, is at least entering this game with a little bit of momentum after knocking off Nebraska last week to snap a six-game losing streak. The Spartans 3-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play this year.

Ohio State is a perfect 9-0 on the season and in the thick of it for the National Championship. The Buckeyes knocked off Rutgers last week in a not-so-impressive performance to remain undefeated on the year.

So can Michigan State find a way to pull off arguably the biggest upset of the year in college football? See what the Spartans Wire staff thinks in our weekly Michigan State predictions below:

Prediction: MSU 10, Ohio State 35

MSU finally won one, and we all feel good about it, but there are still some struggles on offense. Ultimately, they aren’t going to be able to keep up in this one, I don’t think. But don’t be surprised if MSU’s defense gives Ohio State some trouble.

Prediction: MSU 10, Ohio State 41

MSU got a feel-good win, beating Nebraska a week ago, but the flaws with this team are still way too high to go into Columbus and make some noise. The offense is just not good enough to compete in this game.

Prediction: MSU 6, Ohio State 34

This Ohio State team is not as explosive as we’ve all become used to in recent years but their defense is legit. Combine that with Michigan State’s inability to score consistently and I fail to see any possible way the Spartans win this game (or even keep it close). The final score won’t look as bad as previous years but Michigan State unfortunately stands no chance in this one.
