Michigan State basketball tipped off the 2024-25 season (kind of) on Sunday with a double-digit victory over Northern Michigan.
The Spartans traveled to the Upper Peninsula for a road exhibition matchup at Tom Izzo’s alma mater. The Spartans handled business in the fun experience, earning a 70-53 victory over the Wildcats.
Michigan State led the entire way, with the Spartans only holding a narrow 12-point margin at halftime. However, Michigan State turned it up in the second half to build a comfortable lead they carried into the final stretch.
Michigan State was led in scoring by Jace Richardson, who dropped 11 points. Xavier Booker was also in double figures for points, with 10 points in the win.
Detroit Free Press reporter Chris Solari and Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch were on hand for the Spartans’ victory on Sunday. Hear what they had to say about the game and overall experience at the Superior Dome by clicking on the post below:
Only being in God’s country, aka Marquette, Michigan, could bring such a grin to @ChrisSolari’s face.
