CHENNAI: MS Dhoni underwent a knee surgery in Mumbai on Tuesday in his efforts to be fit for the next season of Indian Premier League (IPL).
After playing the IPL final on Monday night, he flew straight to Mumbai with CSK team doctor Madhu Thottappillil where he consulted specialist Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who suggested that the Chennai Super Kings skipper immediately goes under the knife.
Dhoni, too, didn't waste any time and underwent an arthroscopic repair on his left knee which had troubled him through the IPL. It was done so that he gets enough time to start the rehabilitation process. "He wanted to have it done before he goes to Ranchi, where he will take a rest. It has been a long season for him and he wanted to get this out of the way," a CSK source told TOI.
It is understood that Dhoni will need three to four months of rehabilitation time following which he will start his preparation for the next season. After the surgery, he was released from the Mumbai hospital and he left for Ranchi.
