Posting on Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page back in 2019, the mum said her carpet had lost its shine, no matter how much she vacuumed. But Manda revealed that they now look better than ever once all the hair was removed from the rugs.

She said: "You lovely Hinchers have done it again. I have a lovely silver grey carpet which lately has become a bit dull and I’m always hoovering but it had lost its lovely look. I saw the post about trapped hair and how hoovering doesn’t get it out. So I bought a squeegee for 59p and gave it a go.

"This is my daughter's bedroom carpet. She has very long hair. I was totally shocked at how much came up and a bit disgusted to be honest. My carpet now looks brand new again! If you haven’t tried it yet do it!"

And hundreds of other Mrs Hinch fans were just as impressed with the tactic. Mrs Hinch 32-year-old mum-of-two said the squeegee is great for getting in the corners and, while showing her followers the ball of fluff on her Instagram story. Mrs Hinch created her profile @MrsHinchHome_X_ in March 2018 when her husband Jamie began to decorate the Maldon home they bought.

Since July 2018 that the number of followers sky rocketed when she started sharing her cleaning routines. She said: "It just spiralled and I couldn't be more grateful.

"It started off as around 200 or 500 [followers] a month and now it's as many as 35,000 a day. It's in the last four to six weeks that it has gone viral. I've got followers from Ireland, the US and Australia and they are all amazing."

Her dedicated following have started calling themselves 'Hinch Army', using #HinchArmy to share their own successes, using some of Sophie's methods and recommended products. She believes that the success of the page is down to her being true to herself and sharing her love for having fun when cleaning.

Sophie said: "It's been overwhelming but amazing. People are sharing before and after photos of their homes and I'm just so pleased my account has helped so many people together.

"I don't bombard cleaning on my grid page. It's mainly on my stories and my page then shows the results of fun cleaning, aka Hinching. I name all my cloths and cleaning equipment, which may sound odd to some, but it is a laugh for us all and now everyone is getting involved. It's unbelievable."

She added: "I'm a worrier and I struggle with anxiety. For me, to keep my mind off of what was worrying me would be to clean and organise something and love the end result.

"It took my mind off worrying. It helps me control my panic attacks too. Since I've started the account others have messaged me saying I've changed their lives and helped them with their mental health which to me is simply amazing.

"I get thousands of messages each day like this."
