Sometimes, it can feel as though opening a jar on your own is an impossible task, and you wish you had someone there to help you if you're on your own whilst trying to do it.
But Mrs Hinch fans have proven that there's no need for anyone to be there to help you as they've suggested a handy way to get around the problem - and it doesn't cost a penny, and won't leave you huffing, puffing, and struggling.
Rather than relying on someone else, or a potentially expensive gadget, people instead suggested simply using something you already have in your kitchen.
A woman took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group to ask about opening lids. She wrote: ""Is it me or are things more difficult to get into nowadays? I know am getting old (76) but I am not a wimp.
"I have to resort to piercing jars because I cannot undo the lid it is so tight. AND it isn't just lids. Any helpful suggestions? This is when a man comes in handy", she joked.
In the comments, people posted helpful suggestions, but many said gadgets were the way forward - but if you don't want to use those, there's still a solution.
One wrote: "I am 82 and find running the hot water over the lid so quick and all done, easy opening."
"My mother did this. No gadgets", someone responded.
Someone else said: "If it's a a metal lid like on a jar, put a little boiling water into a saucer or bowl and put the lid down into the water for a minute or two, the hot water expands the metal so you will be able to twist off."
"Run very hot water around the seal for 30 seconds (or again if needed) to loosen the airtight grip of the pesky lids", another Mrs Hinch fan recommended.
