Mrs Hinch fans share spring cleaning tricks for dusty radiators

Spring has sprung - so what better time than now to do a bit of spring cleaning? Armed with Mr Muscle, Cillit Bang and sponges, we all know how to clean our kitchenware and the bath, loo and sink in our bathrooms, but there's one household appliance that is notoriously difficult to clean: a radiator.

Many of us overlook the dusty sight, unsure how to battle the dust and grime trapped in the radiator columns but secretly cringing at the idea that we haven't been able to clean it. Fortunately, some fans of cleaning expert and social media star Mrs Hinch (full name Sophie Hinchliffe), have got some great tips for getting all the dust and dirt out of a radiator.

Among the top tips, one member of the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on Facebook suggested getting your hairdryer and angling warm air down the radiator - to, literally, blow the cobwebs away. "Blast inside with a hairdryer," the group member said. "Hairdryer on full blast!"

Another group member agreed with this idea and suggested popping a piece of newspaper underneath the radiator to catch all the flying dirt, reports The Mirror. The group member said: "Use a hairdryer to blow it out, make sure you put newspaper down underneath as you'll be amazed what comes out."

"I’ve just used a hairdryer on mine. It was fantastic and the dust that came out was disgusting - absolutely loads of it. Give it a go, you will be shocked what comes out," added another group member.

A few others suggested using a specialist "radiator brush" or putting a microfibre cloth on a coat hanger and reaching into the radiator to clean it out.

"Was watching Dirty House SOS the other night and one of the guys wrapped a microfibre cloth around a straightened out metal clothes hanger," one group member said. "It really picked up the dust etc!"

Mrs Hinch gained popularity after sharing ingenious cleaning tips and recommendations on social media and TV a few years back. The cleaning enthusiast, 32, now has more than 4 million followers on Instagram, has also authored several books and has a UK-wide fanbase that regularly take to Facebook and Twitter to share Mrs Hinch inspired cleaning tips and tricks.
