Mrs Hinch fans share 29p hack for getting rid of washing machine mould

A clean washing machine is ideal for keeping your clothes fresh, but naturally, some parts can become dirty over time.

It's key to keep on top of keeping the appliance fresh rather than letting issues worsen.

One woman took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group for help when it came to cleaning her washing machine drawer. She was seeking the best hacks as it had only been a couple of washes since she'd given it a deep clean - and it looked gross.

She wrote: "I cleaned this two weeks and I've done a few wash loads since and it's looking like this! Can anyone help or suggest why this has happened?".

The comments were filled with people reassuring her that it was totally normal, offering their top tips for making sure it doesn't come back again, explaining how to clean it if it does.

One woman said: "It's normal it happens to everyone. After you wash open the drawer to let the air circulate. I also keep my door open so you don't get the fusty smell too. Hope you get it sorted."

Another recommended their top tip for banishing mould with a kitchen cupboard staple. They wrote: "Take it out and put it in the dishwasher. If not give a good scrub with a toothbrush. White vinegar sounds like a good idea. Might prevent this from happening again."

Vinegar can be purchased from some supermarkets for as little as 29p.

Someone also recommended cleaning after every wash to ensure the drawer can't get mouldy.

Others also said that leaving it open when not in use helped them to banish the mould, and stop it from coming back.
