Mrs Hinch fans recommend £1.50 product sold at Sainsbury's and Wilko to brighten up white clothes

Most of us will have white garments in our wardrobe, from shirts and socks to bedsheets and pillow cases - but over time, this colour can unfortunately be the most prone to looking drab and dirty.

Whether they turn grey after a few washes or are blighted with yellow stains, it can sometimes seem impossible to get your white items looking brand new again. But don't give up just yet - Mrs Hinch fans have shared a product they have found success with when it comes to sprucing up their whites.

When one fan of the cleaning expert posted in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group asking what others would recommend for keeping their new white bedding pristine, more than one person recommended a stain remover that can be purchased from most major supermarkets. They urged the fan to try Dr Beckmann Glowhite, a stain remover that claims to prevent greying and yellowing on white fabrics.

The sachets are available from the likes of Amazon, Wilko, and Sainsbury's for £1.50. All you have to do is pop one of the sachets into the back of the washing machine on top of your laundry before washing as normal with your usual detergent.

The product has more than a thousand five-star reviews from satisfied shoppers on Amazon. "I have started using this product in the whites wash, perfect for reviving the fresh whiteness in the fabrics, specially the older t-shirts which had become discoloured with use, age and sun," one person said.

Another shopper wrote: "I have used lots of products to get the whites and trainers clean. And this does the best job ever."

"I have used a few now and they are brilliant," a third reviewer commented. "Things I thought were past help came out white. I will be buying these again."

The sachets are not the only product that has been recommended by Mrs Hinch fans when it comes to getting your whites looking good as new again. When a previous post in the group asked for help getting stains out of white socks, several people recommended Napisan stain remover to do the trick.

But if you are dealing with a blood stain you should take a different approach - as throwing it into a hot wash could actually make it worse, according to Mrs Hinch fans. When one person asked for advice on removing the stains from their bed sheets, several people advised soaking them in cold water with salt to help lift the stains before washing.
