Mrs Hinch fans hail 29p hack for banishing mould in washing machine drawer

Mrs Hinch fans have hailed a 29p hack for banishing mould from the drawer in washing machines after one woman took to a Facebook group in a plea for help.

For clothes to stay nice and fresh, it is important to keep your washing machine clean but naturally, it can get mouldy. It is important to clean the mould as soon as it is noticed, rather than allowing it to get worse.

One woman experiencing issues with mould in the drawer of her washing machine requested help in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, the Mirror reports.

She asked for tips to clean the mould and said she had given the machine a deep clean just a few washes ago, but it still looked gross.

She wrote: "I cleaned this two weeks and I've done a few wash loads since and it's looking like this!", followed by a shrugging shoulders emoji.

"Can anyone help or suggest why this has happened?", the woman asked.

People flocked to the comment section to reassure the woman the mould was totally normal as they offered their top tips for making sure it didn't come back again, explaining how to clean it if it did.

One woman said: "It's normal it happens to everyone. After you wash open the drawer to let the air circulate. I also keep my door open so you don't get the fusty smell too. Hope you get it sorted."

Another recommended their top tip for banishing mould with a kitchen cupboard staple. They wrote: "Take it out and put it in the dishwasher. If not give a good scrub with a toothbrush. White vinegar sounds like a good idea. Might prevent this from happening again."

Vinegar can be purchased from some supermarkets for as little as 29p.

Someone also recommended cleaning after every wash to ensure the drawer can't get mouldy.

Others also said leaving it open when not in use helped them to banish the mould, and stop it from coming back.
