Keeping your washing machine smelling nice and well-maintained is an important chore - after all, it's the place you go to clean your dirty clothes.
But the damp environment means it is not uncommon for households to notice pesky issues like mould or foul-smelling odours coming from the door.
Thankfully, there's lots of simple and quick ways to give your washing machine a big blitz and ensure your clothes will come out smelling fresh and beautiful.
Cleaning gurus have taken to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group to share their favourite fool-proof methods to banish nasty smells and grime.
One woman asked for cleaning advice after noticing her machine was starting to give off an unpleasant scent.
She was flooded with lots of tricks and tips, with the most popular one proving to be a remedy many people already have at home.
Rather than using an actual washing machine cleaner, innovative Mrs Hinch fans said that one of the best things to use was a dishwasher tablet in the drum.
"A washing machine engineer told me last week to use two dishwasher tablets and put on a 90-degree hot wash," one person commented.
Another agreed: "Mine told me the same", and a third put: "Dishwasher tablet. Does the job."
"Dishwasher tablets and always leave the washer door very slightly open to stop gathering a smell," someone else said.
A box of dishwasher tablets can be purchased from all supermarkets, for as little as 4p per one.
Other tips included a boil wash with soda crystals, white wine vinegar and a thin bleach for two washes.
"I regularly use soda crystals in with my washes and that helps and my machine has no odour," a Facebook user wrote.
