Mrs Doubtfire child actors look unrecognisable 30 years on from film's release

The child actors who starred in Mrs Doubtfire all immediately shot to fame after the film’s release in 1993.

But the film’s fans may now be hard pushed to recognise the stars, 30 years on.

Since landing roles in the comedy, Mara Wilson, 35, Matthew Lawrence, 42, and Lisa Jakub, 44, who played the children of Robin Williams’s character, Daniel Hillard, all went on to secure acting careers. Yet according to the Daily Mail, some have left the acting profession in the three decades following the film’s premiere.

The family favourite film tells the story of a man, Daniel Hillard, who disguises himself as a female housekeeper in order to visit the family home and spend time with his children after splitting from his wife Miranda.

Mara Wilson, who played youngest child Natalie, was six years old when she starred in the film.

Following the movie’s success, she secured main character roles in Miracle On 34th Street and Matilda.

She took a 12-year hiatus after her mother Suzie passed away after battling breast cancer, aged 43.

Mara has since forged a successful career as a playwright, yet has recently stepped back in front of the camera, taking roles in the 2018 series Big Hero 6 and the 2016 film Broad City.

She also did a spell of voice acting in the series BoJack Horseman as Jill Pill. Her net worth is thought to be $500,000.

Matthew Lawrence starred as Chris in the movie when he was 13, then going on to feature in the 90s TV series, Brotherly Love.

Four years after Mrs Doubtfire’s release, in 1997, Matthew was cast in Boy Meets World until 2000.

He starred in The Hot Chick in 2002, then had cameos on the sitcom Melissa & Joey between 2001 and 2014. His net worth is thought to be $2million.

Lisa Jakub played Daniel and Miranda’s eldest child, Lydia, when she was 15 years old. She went on to appear in Independence Day in 1995, aged 17.

However, upon turning 22, Lisa gave up acting and married Hollywood theatre manager, Jeremy Jones, in 2005.

Upon moving to Virginia, Lisa now works as a yoga instructor and public speaker. She penned her own autobiography, titled You Look Like That Girl.

She also created her own health website, Blue Mala. Her net worth is thought to be $300,000.
