Mrs Brown's Boys star Brendan O'Carroll reveals he has penned first autobiography

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll has revealed he has penned his first autobiography.

Call Me Mrs Brown delves into the Dublin comedian’s early years, including his childhood growing up in Finglas as the youngest of 11 children. Brendan announced the book will be launched in October on the show’s official Mrs Brown’s Boys Instagram page yesterday.

Speaking to his most famous character, Brendan said: “The book seems to be going well.” To which Agnes replies: “A book? About what?”

He reveals: “Well, it is about my life. Where I came from and where I am going.”

When Mrs Brown says she’s bored Brendan insists: “No, no it is not boring. It is really interesting. I think it is anyway. I mean, you look at my childhood and where I grew up and where I…” before he trails off when he sees her snoring.

In 2013, author Brian Beacom released a book called The Real Mrs Brown: The Authorised Biography of Brendan O’Carroll. However, the 66-year-old has never written his own autobiography. The stand-up comedian first came to national prominence when he appeared on The Late Late Show.

Then in 1992, O’Carroll performed a short skit on the radio called Mrs Brown’s Boys – which turned out to be the start of something big. In 1999, after the actor he hired to play Agnes Brown in a production of the comedy failed to show up, O’Carroll decided to take on the part himself.

And the rest, as they say, is history.
