MP reveals vile misogynistic abuse after calling out Andrew Tate-linked ex-mobster

AN SNP MP has revealed the vile abuse she received after she called out a former mobster who is fast friends with misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate.

Alison Thewliss said she had been called a “a f**king parasite, a rat, and a piece of s**t” after she last week questioned whether Michael Franzese should be allowed to perform in Glasgow.

Franzese’s gig was cancelled after The National revealed his links with Tate – who the former mobster insisted was innocent in regards to rape and human trafficking charges he is facing in Romania.

Tate also maintains his innocence.

Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday, Thewliss said the abuse came “in response to my challenging the appropriateness of a US citizen, Michael Franzese, who is doing a tour in the UK”.

She noted her opposition to his planned performance at The Garage – which did not go ahead – came because Franzese was “advocating publicly for the self-proclaimed misogynist influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate who are encouraging toxic attitudes among young men in this country”.

Tate is also subject to an extradition order which will see him sent to the UK for trial once he is tried in Romania, also on rape and human trafficking charges.

Thewliss said the abuse she received made the case for banning “misogynists”.

She said: “Can I ask the Prime Minister who has spoken about banning hate preachers from entering the UK if we'll extend this to misogynists?”

Sunak replied: “Those who seek to divide us, undermine our values and indeed, intimidate and others have no place in our society and we will not hesitate to use not just the full force of the law, but also our immigration regime to make sure we have security and cohesion in this country.”

Representatives for Franzese and Tate were approached for comment.
