Cosmic Vibration, a solo exhibition by kinetic artist Nicolas Panayotou and presented by Rosewood Bangkok in partnership with Mozart Advisory, is on view now to March 14.

Arranged by renowned art curator Laurent Macaluso, Cosmic Vibration is the latest series in the hotel's quarterly rotation of art exhibits that feature multi-media works by local and international artists.

The event opens Wednesday at 6pm with the artist himself in attendance.

Panayotou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and later found creative inspiration in his adopted country of France.

With a background in the 1980s Parisian graffiti movement, Panayotou gained valuable skills from tagging before moving on to murals.

The murals' abstract compositions bore the essence of his future iconography and signature use of chromatic effects.

After studying art history and visual arts at The Louvre Museum School in Paris, he moved towards the optical-art form of kinetics. His work focuses on not only visual effects but also vibrations and cognitive perception. Often it creates motile optical spaces achieved with a technique of painting that rivals airbrush and digital imagery.

Sitting at the crossroads of kinetic art and geometric abstraction and inspired by emblematic artists such as Victor Vasarely, Yaacov Agam and Ugo Rondinone, Panayotou's work is an adventure fully realised by the artist and a voyage of discovery for spectators.

His artworks have been exhibited across Europe and China, with some having found their way into the collections of high-profile collectors.

In this Bangkok exhibition, audiences are invited to explore the boundary between master and machine while entering into another dimension, where plans and inspirations shape a real cosmic landscape.

Techniques and effects include a square created from four equilateral triangles inspired by the form of an Egyptian pyramid seen from a bird's-eye view. A deliberate blur of colour gradients creates a hypnotic universe of vibrating trajectories, with the resulting kaleidoscopic spaces rewarding each gaze with the illusion of movement.

The chromatic range, mixtures and superpositions guide viewers as they meander through a singular chromatic range -- a true hymn to life.

Cosmic Vibration kinetic art exhibition is held daily from 9am to 9pm, at Art Gallery on the 3rd floor of Rosewood Bangkok. Entry is free.
