Moussa Dembele transfer auction as Celtic hero's agent breaks silence to big up one of his many suitors

The phrase Dembele Dollars was part of Parkhead punters' lexicon for many years in expectation of a significant sell–on fee.

But the money for Moussa never arrived and now the former Celtic striker will become a free agent after five years with Lyon. A mixed bag would be unfair, however, there is no doubt his time with Les Gones has had its highs and lows. A trio of seasons netting in excess of 20 for the campaign should be lauded, of course, but his misfiring third season led to a botched loan with Atletico and the current campaign has resulted in a reduced role behind Alexandre Lacazette.

But now Dembele is turning heads as he is being chased by the cream of the continent – Premier League pair Aston Villa and Everton plus Marseille as well as Napoli have been mentioned. But a move to Eintracht Frankfurt appeared a bonafide option – even before the player's representative chimed in. And Mamadi Fofana insists the team who beat Rangers to lift the Europa League are a live option. He said: "Frankfurt are a huge Bundesliga club with a huge fanbase. We are considering and value this option."

And Frankfurt appear primed and ready to offer the lofty salary the former France U21 star craves as they get set to sell star man Randal Kolo Muani for a fee which could go in excess of £80m. A prime landing spot, indeed.
