Moussa Dembele Celtic transfer windfall is ON as Lyon talks collapse with Man United and Arsenal on alert

Celtic are set to land a payday with Lyon set to cash in on Moussa Dembele this summer after last-ditch contract talks with the striker collapsed.

The former Parkhead frontman has been touted as a target for several English Premier League sides after the 26-year-old managed 22 goals last term in a lacklustre campaign for the Ligue 1 side. Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Southampton, Fulham and Everton have all been credited with an interest and a bidding war looks set to breakout as we rapidly approach the end of the window.

The Frenchman has been holding discussions with Lyon in the hope of resolving his future before the end of the transfer window having dropped down the pecking at the Groupama Stadium following the arrival of Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette. With the striker in the final year of his deal, L'Equipe report Dembele has now walked away from the talks and that Peter Bosz's side are now willing to accept a "cut-price" deal to recoup the £20million they paid out to Celtic for Dembele.

The report notes that United and Arsenal have shown an interest in the frontman, and appear to be the most likely clubs to make a move before the window slams shut. It is noted the player's representatives held talks Erik Ten Hag's side earlier this summer amid Cristiano Ronaldo's uncertain future.

Celtic have a 15 per cent sell-on clause in the contract. That could see a £3million windfall heading to Parkhead should Lyon receive at least the fee they spent to take Dembele from Celtic Park.
