A private funeral was held on Saturday to mourn the youngest victim of the tragic incident that occurred during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport. Bebe King, a spirited 6-year-old girl, was laid to rest, following the killings that took place on July 29. The attack, which resulted in the deaths of King, Alice da Silva Aguiar (9), and Elsie Dot Stancombe (7), also left 10 others wounded, including two adults.
King's family described her as a child full of joy, light, and love, and expressed their deep sorrow over the loss. They requested privacy during the funeral service at St Cuthbert’s Church, limiting attendance to close acquaintances. Attendees were encouraged to wear bright clothing and light a candle in Bebe's memory.
Genie, King's older sister, who witnessed the attack but managed to escape, was praised by her parents for her strength and courage. The family emphasized the bond shared between the sisters and vowed to support Genie through the difficult times ahead.
The funeral for Aguiar, described as a 'perfect dream child' by her parents, was held the previous Sunday. Chief Merseyside Police Constable Serena Kennedy delivered a message on behalf of Aguiar's parents, urging an end to the violent unrest that followed the tragic incident.
The nationwide rioting that ensued, fueled by misinformation spread by far-right groups, resulted in numerous arrests and acts of violence. However, efforts to deliver justice swiftly have seen about 100 individuals sentenced to prison terms of up to six years.
Following a period of unrest, the situation began to stabilize as police prepared for protests organized by far-right agitators. Instead, anti-racism marches took place in various locations, signaling a shift away from the violent demonstrations that had plagued the nation.
