THE M80 has been closed in both directions following an electric pole catching fire in the Falkirk area.
Police Scotland have reportedly said the motorway is closed at the junction with the M876 at Dennyloanhead due to an electric pole catching fire at around 8pm on Friday.
Motorists have been urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
Traffic Scotland confirmed junctions eight to nine are affected due to the electrical fire.
The road closure follows a day of disruption due to a red weather warning issued by the Met Office for Storm Eowyn.
Gusts of wind as strong as 100mph have been recorded in parts of Scotland and travel disruption has been widespread, with bridges and roads forced to close.
