Motorola's new Android phone offers powerful advantage over the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy

If you've bought a new iPhone or Samsung Galaxy device recently you'll probably be well aware that something is now missing from the packaging. Back in 2020, Apple ditched the plug from all of its smartphones with Samsung following soon after. This controversial change is aimed at cutting down on electronic waste whilst also making the boxes smaller. That means fewer emissions as more devices can be packed into the shipping containers that whizz across the world.

Although there's no doubting the eco-credentials of this decision, it's also meant that those wanting to take advantage of faster charging speeds need to splash out on a plug with Samsung and Apple both charging around £30 for the privilege.

If that added fee feels frustrating then it might be worth checking out the latest device from Motorola with the firm's new Edge 40 Pro arriving with a plug in the box. And that's not all as this adapter also offers blisteringly quick 125W TurboPower refilling which can boost the battery from flat to full in around 23 minutes. It can also deliver enough power to survive a day in just six minutes.

Along with that bundled power brick, there are plenty of other features that make this device worth some attention including a borderless 6.67” FHD+ pOLED display that sweeps around the sides of the case.

This screen also gets a 165Hz refresh rate which should make scrolling through websites and playing games appear silky smooth and stutter-free. There's also a Gorilla Glass Victus finish which saves it from cracking and it can survive being dipped in water for 30 minutes.

Head under the hood and the Edge 40 Pro is powered by the latest processor from Qualcomm. This Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 brain offers much-improved performance and better efficiency meaning there's less chance of the battery running flat.

On the rear case is a triple-lens camera that can shoot pixel-packed images at night plus users can snap wide angle and close-up macro photos using this snapper. It's also capable of making home movies in stunning 8K plus there's Auto Focus Tracking which makes sure videos of the family cat always stay sharp.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro comes with 256GB of storage as standard and costs £799.99.

That's not exactly cheap but considering the new Galaxy S23 starts from £899 with 128GB of storage and no plug in the box it definitely sounds like pretty good value.
