Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Price, specs, and everything you need to know

The Motorola Razr Plus 2024 cover screen with the phone open at an angle.

The Razr Plus 2024 is the latest foldable phone from Motorola. Thanks to upgrades like a refined design, a larger cover screen, more vegan leather, a more up-to-date flagship chipset, a better camera, and so much more, the Razr Plus 2024 was given the title of Android Central's best flip phone of 2024. Even in 2025, the phone still manages to be a favorite.

As it stands, the Razr Plus is one of the best you can buy, alongside the cheaper Razr 2024. In fact, Motorola revealed that the Razr series has seen quite a bit of success for the company, with even iPhone users switching over. Along with the Edge series, the Razr is helping Motorola double its business by 2026. This is proof enough that the Motorola Razr is a great phone and a perfect gift for a friend, family member, or loved one.

If you're curious about Motorola's latest flip phone, here's everything you need to know about it before purchasing the device. You can also check out our Motorola Razr Plus 2024 review to get our full thoughts on the device based on our testing. We also take a look at the upcoming Razr Plus 2025 with a roundup of rumors, leaks, and things we'd like to see.

Note: Motorola markets the Razr phones under different names between North American and international markets. We will mostly refer to the phone by its North American branding as the "Razr Plus 2024," although it is branded as the Razr 50 Ultra outside of the U.S. and may also feature a Razr 50S Ultra variant for certain regions/carriers.

Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Price and availability

Motorola launched the Razr Plus 2024 on June 25 at an event in New York City. The phone went on sale on July 24.

As for pricing, Motorola retained last year's price tags at launch, meaning the flagship Razr Plus 2024 costs $999, while the cheaper Razr 2024 costs $699. However, they have gone on sale several times since launch, and even in 2025, Motorola has slashed the price of the Razr Plus, offering it at a $200 discount at Motorola.com and the Razr available at a $100 discount as of February 2025.

The Razr Plus 2025 is available in one configuration in North America, sporting 256GB and 12GB of RAM. The Razr 2024 has 8GB of RAM with the same amount of storage. Neither offer expandable storage.

At launch, the Razr Plus 2024 came in four colors: Midnight Blue, Spring Green, Peach Fuzz, and Hot Pink. In December 2024, Motorola expanded the color options with a fifth color: Mocha Mousse. This new color, specifically PANTONE 17-1230, is the Pantone 2025 Color of the Year and went on sale exclusively on Motorola.com on December 19.

A special, limited-edition Paris Pink Razr Plus 2024 was launched in February, bundled with a case and two straps. This phone features the same specs as the other color options and retails for $1,199, although it can be bought at a $300 discount.

The Razr 2024 comes in three colors: Koala Grey, Beach Sand, and Spritz Orange. Availability of these color options may vary depending on carrier or region.

Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Hardware and design

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

The Razr Plus 2023 was a fairly drastic design shift for Motorola, offering a hole-punch display, refined hinge, and an overall more modern look. With the Motorola Razr Plus 2024, the company took that same design philosophy and ran with it, adopting a largely identical design with front and back panels that curve into the rounded 6000-series aluminum frame.

The front is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, while the back of the phone has a vegan leather finish on each of the color variants. As of December 2024, there are five different colors, including Spring Green, Midnight Blue, and Peach Fuzz, and each has a slightly different texture on the back. Motorola even brought back the iconic Hot Pink color that debuted with the original Razr V3. Thanks to the company's multi-year partnership with Pantone, the Razr also comes in Mocha Mousse, a chocolatey color that's been named Pantone's Color of the Year for 2025.

Internally, the pOLED display measures 6.9 inches but has been improved with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The refresh rate has also been improved to 165Hz. There is still a built-in screen protector on the display, but it's more seamless and covers more of the panel, including the front-facing camera.

Meanwhile, the larger cover screen takes up the entire front panel, with two cameras protruding from the bottom corner. The cover screen is a 4-inch OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2400 nits.

The hinge design is largely the same as well, resulting in a very minimal crease across the display. The hinge is also slightly smaller, with more dust protection. The phone itself also has more water resistance, now with an IPX8 rating, meaning the phone can be completely submerged without damage (although we still would not recommend this).

There are a few Motorola Razr Plus 2024 cases out there that we would recommend, although the selection is not extensive. We would also suggest a screen protector to shield the external display from scratches and breaks, especially since it takes up the full front panel.

At 7.1mm thick when open, the phone is slightly thicker than its predecessor, but not by much. Otherwise, the phone has dimensions similar to those of its predecessor, so anyone coming from the previous phone should feel familiar when handling this new one. The cameras protrude much more than before, so you'll want to be careful to avoid damaging the lenses.

At 189g, the phone weighs just slightly more than its closest competitor, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, but the difference is negligible. As noted in the review, the phone is comfortable to hold, likely due to the rounded frame and edges.

You may notice that metal objects tend to stick to the Razr. That's normal, as the phone sports magnets inside to help keep the phone closed and add some resistance to opening it, along with the hinge. This could give the impression that the Razr or Razr Plus support MagSafe charging, and while they technically don't, the phones can still charge and stick to a wireless MagSafe charger if it has a strong enough magnet. Still, you'd be better off purchasing a case with built-in magnets.

In February 2025, Motorola launched a limited-edition Paris Pink Razr Plus 2024 as part of a collaboration with Paris Hilton. The phone is a light pink hue engraved with Hilton's signature on the bottom rear panel and "That's hot" on the hinge. It comes with a vegan leather case that also features Hilton's signature and two straps for the case. Furthermore, the phone includes exclusive Paris Hilton-themed ringtones and wallpapers.

Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Specs

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

The Motorola Razr Plus 2024 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which launched in the spring of 2024. It's not as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but it still retains many of the capabilities, especially when it comes to AI. The chipset is paired with 12GB of RAM, so the phone should be able to handle on-device AI and have a better handle on juggling multiple apps or keeping them running in the background.

Just like its predecessor, the Razr Plus 2024 has 256GB of non-expandable UFS 4.0 storage, meaning you'll get what you get and no more. Of course, there are options for cloud storage, such as Google One.

One of the most significant changes is to the battery. The capacity has grown to 4,000mAh, up from 3,800mAh on the Razr Plus 2023. That's a fairly significant capacity jump, and battery life is much better with a more efficient chipset. This was a weak point for the Razr Plus 2023, and Motorola claims all-day battery life with the Razr Plus 2024.

Charging specs have also improved, with 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and even 5W reverse-wireless charging. Other specs include support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Dolby Atmos with spatial sound, and the latest Snapdragon Sound technology.

Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Software and features

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

The Motorola Razr Plus 2024 runs Android 14 out of the box with the company's latest Hello UX on top. Some aspects of the software are similar to what you'd find on the Pixel, but Motorola has added more of its own flair to the UI while borrowing from others. For example, the settings menu has been revamped and is much more compact than before. Users can also choose a more modern style Control Panel that separates notifications from the quick settings menu, depending on what side of the display you swipe down from.

Just like before, Motorola lets you use apps on the Razr Plus 2024 cover screen, which utilizes an updated UI for panels and navigation. There's also a new Motorola Migrate app integrated into the settings that lets users transfer iCloud data to the phone.

Aside from newer Android 14 flourishes, Motorola is also touting some AI features, such as support for the Gemini app, something that has thus far been poorly supported on flip phones. The app can even be used from the phone's cover screen, and the phone also supports Gemini Nano with features like Magic Compose.

The October update included the September 1 security patch but also brought Google's Circle to Search feature to the Razr after being teased just days prior. The feature is enabled by default after performing the update, but you can enable/disable it by navigating to Settings > Gestures > System navigation.

The company also launched a suite of new AI features called Moto AI, which brings more interesting capabilities to the Razr. With Moto AI, the phone can "pay attention" to what the user is saying or doing and transcribe or summarize conversations afterward. Moto AI can also summarize notifications so you can easily catch up, and it will even recall text, screenshots, and photos so you don't forget anything, not too unlike the Pixel Screenshots app.

Moto AI redesigns the app drawer with three tabs for apps, news, and the Journal — which holds recordings, screenshots, and more. There is also a new search bar that provides quick access to Moto AI actions, which can search the web or provide AI-generated responses with natural language.

Users with the Razr Plus 2024 and even the cheaper Razr 2024 can register for the open beta and gain access to these features. Motorola says the feedback it receives will help shape the company's AI efforts going forward.

Motorola's Magic Canvas received a notable upgrade, completely revamped so that it's able to generate better images from text descriptions, similar to Google's Pixel Studio.

In addition to the above features, which users can test now, Motorola also showed off a Large Action Model running on the Razr Plus 2024, which will use AI to perform actions in apps with little input from the user. This includes things like ordering coffee or booking an Uber, and the AI would navigate apps using what it knows about you to order your favorite drink. This feature is just a concept, however, and it's not clear when or if it will be available on phones.

The company promises the Razr Plus 2024 will receive three OS upgrades and four years of software updates, which is in line with the previous Razr models. The company normally updates its phones every two months with the latest security patch, although its first post-launch update did not arrive until October 2024.

As of February 2025, the Razr Plus has received multiple security patch updates. The latest, which rolled out to Razr Plus models in January, was a fairly small update that brought the security patch level up to December 2024.

We also don't yet know when Android 15 will be available on the Razr Plus 2025. According to one publication, Motorola has updated support pages for its phones that will be updated to Android 15, and the Razr Plus 2024 is among the phones listed that will receive the update when it's available. Per Motorola:

"This device is expected to receive Android™ 15, pending partner approval, if that's required."

Some phones have received beta updates to Android 15, while others have reportedly received the stable version on devices like the Edge 50 Ultra.

In February 2025, Motorola announced a collaboration with BMW that brings support for its Digital Key feature. This allows Razr Plus 2024 owners to unlock their BMWs using NFC. Simply hold the phone to the door handle, and it will unlock. That said, the phone doesn't support BMW Digital Key Plus due to its lack of ultrawide band (UWB).

Motorola Razr Plus 2024: Cameras

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

Motorola has included a new set of cameras on the Razr Plus 2024, giving the phone dual 50MP sensors. The primary sensor is a standard wide-angle lens, while the secondary rear camera is a 2x telephoto. Motorola says this should allow users to capture more natural portraits of users without losing any detail when zoomed in.

The Razr Plus 2024 also promises improved quality over its predecessor, thanks to the Photo Enhancement Engine, which fine-tunes images "for optimal detail, clarity, highlights, shadows, color, and bokeh effects." Other AI-powered features include Adaptive Stabilization to keep the phone steady when there's a lot of movement, Action Shot for capturing fast-moving objects or people, and Super Zoom to enhance close-ups using AI.

Users also have access to various shooting modes that take advantage of the hinge, like Auto Camcorder Mode, which automatically starts recording video when the phone is held in a camcorder-like position (as seen in the image above). This mode is also capable of shooting video in a vertical orientation, which is ideal for social media.

On the front is a 32MP selfie camera capable of shooting 8MP images thanks to pixel binning.

Motorola Razr 2024: The cheaper flip phone

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

In addition to the flagship Razr Plus 2024, Motorola has also launched the cheaper Razr 2024, which comes less than a year after the Razr 2023 made its way to North America. The phone adopts a nearly identical design to the Motorola Razr Plus 2023, bringing a larger 3.6-inch OLED panel that allows the use of apps and other features. The phone also comes in vegan leather finishes and, as mentioned before, is available in three different colors.

The phone is powered by a MediaTek 7300X chipset, which is one of the newest midrange chips at the time of writing and should be a step up from the previous model's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The phone retains 8GB of RAM but doubles its storage capacity to 256GB.

The Razr 2024 gets the same 50MP sensor as the Razr Plus 2024, so the camera should get many of the same improvements. The difference is that the secondary lens is a 13MP ultrawide/macro sensor, seemingly the same as last year's Razr Plus 2023. The front-facing camera is 32MP.

Compared to last year's models, the OLED display has also been improved, with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, although the refresh rate is down to 120Hz. Meanwhile, the cover screen now has a peak of 1,700 nits, but it should also be more battery efficient with a 90Hz refresh rate compared to the 144Hz on the Razr Plus 2023.

The phone gets the same IPX8 rating as the Razr Plus 2024, so the device is protected from submersion. The battery capacity is the same as last year's model, but wireless charging has been improved with 15W speeds.

Like the Razr Plus 2024, the Razr 2024 has also received an update that brings the Circle to Search capability.

Check out our Motorola Razr 2024 review for our full thoughts on the cheaper of the two models. The phone has also been released as the "Razr 50S" for the Japanese carrier Softbank, with no noticeable difference in specs or design.

Motorola Razr Plus 2025: A look ahead

While the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 is a great phone, rumors and leaks of its predecessor, the Razr Plus 2025, have already started cropping up. We don't have all the information, and for now, it's all unofficial, but there are talks of some key specs for the next phone, such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, meaning a proper top-end flagship chipset for the first time on a Razr.

According to leaked renders, the phone will also likely sport a similar design to the Razr Plus 2024, with some differences in how the vegan leather finish is implemented. It may also be launched in green and red colorways.

While last year's model launched in June 2024, the Razr Plus 2025 is rumored to have a launch set for April, a couple of months ahead of schedule.
