A section of Union Road in Linlithgow will be closed to enable Network Rail to raise the height of the railway boundary wall.
Using stone closely matched to the existing wall, the height will be raised to 1.8m to comply with current railway standards and to protect the safety of both passengers and lineside neighbours.
Work on the wall is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 20 and will be completed on Friday, April 14, with Union Road closed between Preston Road and St John’s Avenue for the duration of the project.
The work will be undertaken on dayshift and will take place on Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, with a diversion route in place for vehicles and local access permitted to residents, pedestrians and cyclists.
Stephen Boslem, Works Delivery Manager for Network Rail said: “The work to raise the height of the railway boundary on Union Street in Linlithgow is part of our commitment to providing a safe and reliable railway.
“While we need to close the road to vehicles to deliver the work safely and efficiently, we have maintained access throughout for local residents, pedestrians and cyclists to minimise the impact of the closure.
“I’d like to thank local residents for their patience as we carry out this work.”
If anyone has any questions or needs further information on the work, they can contact Network Rail’s national helpline on 03457 11 41 41.
