A WARNING has been issued to motorists as several roads in Glasgow will be closed due to M8 works.
On behalf of Transport Scotland, Amey is undertaking essential reactive bridge inspections across the M8 Kingston Bridge Complex.
Work is expected to continue from Monday, March 17 and will take place each weeknight between 8pm and 6am.
During the works, many roads in Glasgow city centre will be closed.
The following overnight road closures will be in place:
Monday, March 17
A804 North Street - Between the Broomielaw and Argyle Street.
- Westbound traffic: Continue on the Broomielaw westbound to Anderston Quay and follow Finnieston Way, Congress Way, Pointhouse Road, Finnieston Street, and the A814 Expressway, where this diversion will end.
- Eastbound traffic: Continue on Broomielaw eastbound to Brown Street and Argyle Street, where this diversion will end.
A804 Newton Street - Between Argyle Street and The Broomielaw.
- Westbound traffic: Continue on Argyle Street eastbound to James Watt Street and the Broomielaw, where this diversion will end.
- Eastbound traffic: Continue on Argyle Street westbound to the Clydeside Expressway, Finnieston Street, Lancefield Quay, and follow onto the Broomielaw, where this diversion will end.
Tuesday, March 18
A804 Newton Street - Between Argyle Street and The Broomielaw.
- Westbound traffic: Continue on Argyle Street westbound to the Clydeside Expressway, Finnieston St, Lancefield Quay and follow on to the Broomielaw where this diversion will end.
- Eastbound traffic: Continue on Argyle Street eastbound to James Watt Street and the Broomielaw, where this diversion will end.
Wednesday, March 19
Argyle Street westbound - Two lanes towards the Clydeside Expressway between Newton Street and North Street.
- Diverted traffic: Turn onto North Street, St Vincent Street, Newton Street, Argyle Street, James Watt Street, the Broomielaw, and North Street, where this diversion will end.
Thursday, March 20
Argyle Street westbound - Two right-turn lanes between Newton Street and North Street.
- Diverted traffic: Continue onto the Clydeside Expressway, Finnieston Street, Congress Way, Pointhouse Road, and Clydeside Expressway eastbound, where this diversion will end.
A804 Newton Street - Between Argyle Street and The Broomielaw.
- Eastbound traffic: Continue on Argyle Street eastbound to James Watt Street and the Broomielaw, where this diversion will end.
Friday, March 21
Argyle Street eastbound - Between Newton Street and North Street.
- Diverted traffic: Continue on to the Clydeside Expressway, Finnieston Street, Congress Way, Pointhouse Road, and Clydeside Expressway eastbound, where this diversion will end.
M8 Junction 18 Anderston off-slip closure.
- Diverted traffic: Continue on the M8 Westbound, M8 Jct 20 off-slip, West Street, Kingston Street, Commerce Street, A77 George V Bridge, The Broomielaw, Brown Street, and Argyle Street, where this diversion will end.
M8 Junction 17 on-slip closure.
- Diverted traffic: Charing X Southbound, A804 St Georges Road southbound, A804 Newton Street, M8 Jct 18 Newton Street on-ramp, where this diversion will end.
A spokesperson for Amey said: "Please be conscious of other roadworks across the M8 corridor through Glasgow, any vehicles entering the LEZ as part of the diversion route must always follow the diversion signage.
"Any vehicles that deviate from the published diversion route may be issued with penalty charge notice(s) from Glasgow City Council should they be captured out with the agreed diversion route."
