Motorists are being warned of possible delays as a large section of a major Valleys road is set to shut this weekend. Drivers are being told to plan ahead as the A465 between Rhigos roundabout and Glynneath junction will be closed from 8pm on Friday, January 27 until 6am on Monday, January 30.
An official diversion will be in place for those intending to use the busy stretch between Rhondda Cynon Taf and Neath Port Talbot during this time. A spokesperson for Future Valleys Construction said: "The closure is taking place so that a new, permanent roundabout can be installed."

The spokesperson said temporary three-way traffic lights will be deployed at the roundabout during the closure. However, drivers are be told that delays are possible and to factor this into their journey time before heading out.
The work is part of an 11-mile stretch of major redevelopment roadworks on the Heads of the Valleys road which is costing the Welsh Government £590million. The main contract involves transforming the three-lane 17km stretch of road between Dowlais and Hirwaun into a four-lane carriageway. The work isn't set to be completed until 2025.
Anyone with any queries regarding the closure can email A465enquiries@futurevalleys construction.com or ring 0776 245 1850. To report any incidents or issues during the weekend closure motorists can call the A465 section five and six control room on 0800 865 4650.
