A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a horror crash in Gateshead.
Emergency services attended the scene following the crash which was found to have involved a car and a motorcycle on Haugh Lane in Blaydon. A man who was involved in the collision was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) with injuries that are thought to be serious but non-life threatening.
Haugh Lane was closed following the crash involving the two vehicles just after 7am on Friday. The road subsequently was reopened by 9am with police remaining at the scene in an attempt to safely control traffic through the scene between Newburn Bridge Road and Addison Industrial Estate.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after 7.20am today (Friday), police received a report of a collision on Haugh Lane, Blaydon.
"It was reported that a car and motorbike had been involved. The driver of the motorbike has been taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
"There was a temporary road closure in place but has since re-opened."
A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: "We were called at 7:18am this morning to a road traffic collision between a bike and a car at the junction of Haugh Lane and Newburn Bridge Road in Blaydon. We sent a rapid response paramedic and emergency ambulance crew and took a male patient to the RVI in Newcastle with multiple injuries."
The road has since reopened and police remain at the scene controlling the traffic.
