Motorcyclist taken to hospital with 'life changing injuries' after crash in the Rhondda

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with life-changing injuries after a crash in the Rhondda. Emergency services were called to Tyntyla Road near Rhondda Sports Centre at around 7.30pm on Monday, April 3, to reports of a crash involving two vehicles.

The crash involved a red and white Suzuki motorcycle and a grey Range Rover Evoque. The Range Rover was being driven by a 56-year-old man from Tonypandy. The rider of the motorcycle, a 27-year-old man from Porth, suffered injuries described as life-changing and was taken to the University Hospital of Wales where he remains.

South Wales Police confirmed the road was closed until 1.00am this morning while investigations took place. People were asked to avoid the area while the incident was ongoing. You can get more local news and other story updates straight to your inbox by subscribing to our newsletters here.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have yet to come forward to make contact. Officers are also appealing for anyone who may have seen the manner in which either vehicle was being driven prior to the collision or who may have any dashcam footage to make contact, quoting reference 2300106986.
