A motorbike racer is lucky to be alive after suffering serious injuries after a 150mph crash. Zak Corderoy has issued a message to his fans from his hospital bed at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham following the incident. He thanked QMC staff as well as Shark, who made the helmet that saved his life.
In a heartfelt statement issued on his social media pages, the British Superbikes rider thanks everyone for the care he received at the hospital. Mr Corderoy was training at the Donington Park Race Circuit in Leicestershire when the accident happened.
He was left with a bruise to the brain, fractured neck, dislocated shoulder, broken fingers and ribs, the racer said. It is understood that the incident happened on Sunday (May 22).

To his fans and supporters, Mr Corderoy, riding for for Gearlink Kawasaki BSS, said: "On the road to recovery from this 150mph + crash, thanks to the team @gearlinkkawasaki for being so supportive through this situation. Special thanks @shark_helmets for running top level protection as per.
"Following an extensive investigation of my bike by team management, it has become apparent that a minute piece of debris from my crash in Saturdays Sprint Race, became dislodged on the out lap of Sundays Warm Up, resulting in a mechanical issue with the bike, causing a high speed crash with a bruising on the brain, fractured neck, dislocated shoulder, broken fingers and ribs.’
