An inquest has opened into the death of a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in Salford.
Simon Reeves, 35, died at the scene of the smash in Leigh Road, Boothstown, on the evening of March 18. An inquest into the death of Mr Reeves, who lived in Astley, was opened at Bolton Coroner's Court this afternoon (Thursday, April 21).
Police coroner's officer Julieann Hyde told the brief hearing: "On Friday, March 18, Mr Reeves was riding a motorcycle along Leigh Road in Boothstown.

"At the same time, a Vauxhall Astra was turning right from Leigh Road and collided with Mr Reeves. Mr Reeves suffered fatal injuries and sadly passed away at the scene."
Coroner Alan Walsh gave Mr Reeves' cause of death as "intra-abdominal and pericardial haemorrhage due to blunt trauma causing liver and heart tears". He adjourned the inquest until September 14 when a full hearing is set to take place.
Leigh Road was shut for several hours after emergency services were called to reports of a serious collision involving a car and a motorbike at about 7.10pm on March 18. Police said the driver of the car remained at the scene and was assisting them with their enquiries.
In the hours and days following the tragic incident, tributes to Mr Reeves were left at the scene.
