Motorcyclist in critical condition following M50 crash with car

A motorcyclist is in critical condition following a collision with a car on a slip road onto the M50 from Ballymun.

The man, in his late 20s, is being treated in Beaumont Hospital after the motorbike he was on collided with a car.

The incident occurred before 5pm on Sunday evening and a section of the M50 road remains closed to allow a garda forensic team to investigate.

The M50 Southbound from Junction 4 (Ballymun) to Junction 3 was closed earlier with diversions in place on Sunday night.

A spokeswoman for the Gardai said: "A male motorcyclist (late 20s) and a car collided on the slip road from Ballymun heading onto the M50 southbound. The male motorcyclist was removed from the scene to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The female driver (late 30s) of the car, and sole occupant was uninjured.

"Garda Forensic Collision investigators are currently at scene conducting a technical examination. Local diversions are in place and the road remains closed at this time."

Gardaí are appealing to any road users, either from the M50 or the Slip Road, at Ballymun who may have video/dash cam footage or anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to them.
