A MAN believed to be aged in his 50s has died following a collision with an SUV in the Hunter on Thursday morning.
Shortly before 7am on Thursday, September 5, emergency services were called to Booral-Washpool Road at Stroud, about 85 kilometres north of Newcastle, following reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and car.
Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District arrived and were told by passersby that a northbound motorcyclist and a southbound silver Holder Captiva collided.
The rider died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified, however police believe he was aged in his 50s.
The driver of the Holden Captiva, a 62-year-old woman, was uninjured and taken to Dungog Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established and with the assistance of specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit, an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
