Motorbike rider seriously injured after crash at Wheatcroft Island between car and bike

A motorbike rider has suffered what police have described as serious injuries after a crash between a car and his bike.

On Thursday (March 10) at around 3pm, Nottinghamshire Police were called to Wheatcroft Island, Melton Road, West Bridgford following reports of a collision.

The 54-year-old rider remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Melton Road was closed through to 11pm that same evening after immediate enquiries by police on the road were finished.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any dash-cam footage to come forward to help with the investigation.

Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are working to understand exactly what happened in this incident and would like to urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

"We would like to thank road users and the public for their patience as the road remained closed for some time while officers carried out their investigations.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen the collision or has any footage to contact us as it may help us piece together exactly what happened."

Anyone with any information or dash-cam footage is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 461 of March 10, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
