MotoGP's Writers Room Forgets We've Done This Storyline, Says Flooded Spain Will Go On

When you've been doing a show for so long, it's sometimes difficult to come up with new ideas. I get it, creativity is difficult. You've got to come up with new plots, new characters to introduce, new stories that your fervent fans will voraciously follow. But that's a tall order when you've been doing it for decades.

I still don't understand how I can come up with new words each and every day after doing this for 15 years.

And that's why most writers rooms keep something called a "Show Bible" that they've come up with and follow as the series progresses. It's not only there to help them keep the show on track to its ultimate culmination, but also ensures you don't repeat yourself. No one wants a story they've seen before. No one, Star Wars...

So for no reason whatsoever, MotoGP's governing body says that despite recent flooding in Jerez, Spain, the Grand Prix will take place next month. Wait

Local reports report that the Jerez track in Spain is currently underwater. After flooding hit the country thanks to some powerful storms, portions of the track became submerged. This came as a surprise to Yamaha, which was scheduled to be running the debut of the brand's new R9 superbike at the track when the storm hit.

That said, the rains were so intense, the track will have to be fully resurfaced in order to be ready for the Grand Prix next month. Something both the track and MotoGP says will go off without a hitch.

Valencian officials, I mean, Jerez's officials stated, and first reported by Visor Down, "Despite the damages suffered after yesterday's storm, the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto guarantees the celebration of the Spanish MotoGP Grand Prix. After the passage of an intense storm yesterday afternoon that caused numerous incidents in the rural area near the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, as well as in the circuit itself, work has begun today on the preparation of the facilities to resume the activity as soon as possible. Since early in the morning, the circuit operators have been carrying out cleaning works that will last for several days. For the fans' peace of mind, the Circuito de Jerez guarantees that these works, which are being carried out today, guarantee that the Spanish Grand Prix will be held as scheduled from April 25th to 27th, and only the activity closer to these days will be affected by these cleaning and damage repair works."

Anyway, Jerez says everything is fine, the track will dry out, and that no interference will occur with the Grand Prix next month. Spain is definitely not underwater, airports are open, and those affected by the flood will be welcoming of a bunch of noisy tourists. Have I been here before? Haven't we done all this? Say, like three months ago? Haven't we milked this plot device enough?

Come on, MotoGP writers, come up with a new disaster already. Have you thought about fire?
