MotoGP's Suzi Perry praises 'graceful' Queen after seeing her at past Royal Ascot

MotoGP presenter Suzi Perry reminisced over the 'noble, graceful' Queen Elizabeth II as she praised the 'powerful' state funeral.

The 52-year-old was working in Spain during the funeral and rushed into her hotel room in order to watch the live footage of the historic occasion.

She soon realised the funeral for the long-reigning Queen - who died on September 8 at the age of 96 - was airing on every channel in Europe.

Around 2,000 mourners - which included world leaders, royals and NHS staff - gathered inside Westminster Abbey for the state funeral, the like of which the country hasn't seen for some seven decades.

"I was extremely moved," Suzi told The Mirror. "I thought it was very powerful. I thought it was an incredible feat of organisation and so beautifully executed by everybody and there was something all the time and I was like, 'Wow, how are they doing that?'

"This is just so fitting, you know, for her because I love the queen. I absolutely do. And I worked at Royal Ascot for over about 10 years and you know, and it's a lot of different events where she would be and I would always feel so excited to see her and I just found her to be such a noble, graceful leader."

She added: "[She was] just full of dignity, kind of almost out of this world really. You know, I really felt yesterday that we were sort of losing an era and one of our family. So I felt deeply, deeply saddened. I felt so sad when I looked at Charles's face."

Suzi went on to praise the live coverage of the funeral, which gave viewers all over the world the opportunity to be closely part of it.

"I thought that the coverage was utterly compelling and moving and touching and everything that it should be and yeah, I couldn't take my eyes off it yesterday," she added.

Following the state funeral, the Queen's coffin was marched by gun carriage from Westminster and past Buckingham Palace before departing London on her last journey.

A tearful King Charles III, still publicly grieving the loss of his beloved mother, as well as other royals including young Prince George and Princess Charlotte, paid their respects in a smaller ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The monarch's coffin was lowered into the Royal Vault and away from the public's gaze for the final time before a private burial ceremony took place.

There were many emotional moments during the hugely-loved monarch's funeral, including the moment her corgis and horse got the opportunity to say goodbye.

Emma, the Queen’s Fell Pony, greeted the procession, standing on grass in a gap in the floral tributes along the Long Walk in honour of her late owner.

Members of staff at Buckingham Palace lined up in front of the building to pay their respects to the Queen as her coffin left London for the final time.
